How Much Water Should You Drink Every Day?

Much Water Should You Drink Every Day

Back in school, you must have read about the significance of drinking enough water. Around 60% of the body weight is made of water, and all the major organs and functions of the body are dependent on water. Water is also essential to flush out the toxins through urine and sweat. Of course, most of us know that water is more than necessary for digestion.

So, how much Water you Should Drink Each Day?
The question is open to many answers. By now, you must have read in numerous posts that eight glasses is just enough, but many health websites differ in their opinion. We lose water every moment, through perspiration, breath, and urine. A considerable amount of water also passes through stool. Contrary to what many people think, just plain water is not enough to maintain the hydration rate. You need to include foods that have significant water content, besides drinking beverages like juices and infused water.

According to The Institute of Medicine, men should have around 13 cups of water each day, which is the adequate amount on an average. This is roughly around 3 liters per day. As for women, the adequate intake is around 9 cups, which is around 2.2 liters per day. The “8 glass rule” doesn’t have the backing of research, but it’s still a good thing to maintain, if you cannot remember other figures.

Need for More Water:

People, who live in a hot climate or tropical regions, often require more water. You also need to check the hydration rate if you exercise more often or have conditions like diarrhea. Dehydration is a common condition and must be treated in time, or else, one might feel tired all the time. If you exercise longer than an hour, you should consider adding at least three glasses of water to the existing plan. Patients suffering from fever or vomiting must also have more water, as a considerable amount of fluid is lost during this period.

Opt for Alkaline Water:

Doctors often suggest people to opt for drinks with electrolytes, and there is no better option than 9.5 pH alkaline water, especially if you don’t want to go for the packaged drinks. Check online to find more about the benefits of alkaline water.
